Meeting Minutes

March 18, 2010 –12:00 noon. Gilchrist (Visitor Center)

Called to Order at:12:04 by Kathy Altman, presiding President

Members/Guests Present: Terri Anderson, Barbara Walters, Judy Scally, Kerry Ellington, Bill Scally, Kathy Altman, Tina Miller

Prior Minutes: Kerry Ellington made a motion to accept the minutes as written. Kathy Altman seconded the motion. All were in favor.

Treasurer’s Report: Barbara Walters verbally reported that the balance is $1152.74 Kerry Ellington made a motion to accept this; seconded by Linda Barron. All were in favor.

Correspondence: Mike McLain thanked the Chamber for allowing him to address the members at our last meeting and requested space for his political signs.

Old Business:

  1. Membership Mailings: renewals & new members Linda Barron reported that all mailings were sent out last week. Two lists were distributed. Board members agreed to help promote the membership Drive by individually signing up for specific businesses. It was also agreed to promote honorary members (example fire department etc.)

  2. Brochure Reprinting “North Klamath County C.C.”: Linda Barron reported that it was critical that membership fees were collected so that the new brochures could be ordered for the summer. We will talk about this at our next meeting.

  3. Visitor Center Maintenance: Tina Miller announced that today was here last day. It was agreed by all board members that everyone would pop into the Center to check on its condition. If there is anything happening it would be reported to Kathy Altman. Tina will continue to receive a stipend of $50.00 for the Center and will continue to order materials for the public. Tina will also continue to submit report to Discover Klamath so as not to jeopardize the Chamber’s grant money. The Chamber’s laptop will be used by Tina until such a time that it is not needed for the Chamber work.

  4. Crescent’s 100th B Day Balloons & Banner; Balloons were distributed as samples. Our next meeting will be a working meeting. All businesses in the Gilchrist & Crescent area will be given balloons on a stick to celebrate Crescent’s 100th B-Day. Distributed the day of our meeting. Kathy Altman has indicated that she will stop and discuss ordering a banner thru Cindy and Brian at the Mohawk
    a. Rene Kapp has reported to Kathy Altman that she has the write up for Blackie Parker. We have discussed the merits of having this ready to be distributed along with the celebration balloons.

  5. La Pine Kitchen & contact info in Gilchrist: Barbara Walters and the La Pine Kitchen have furnished information that will be posted on the Chamber website and as an article in the Cascade News that will go out the first of April. Barbara Walters also reported that as of this week the Chemult Food Bank would be shutting down.

New Business:

  1. Flea Market Date Kathy Altman was going to stop at the Mohawk after the meeting to confirm the date for the Flea Market.

  2. Adopt A Flag: It is that time to discuss distribution of the flags. Will have to be finalized at our next meeting. Still frozen ground to deal with during March & April.
